Delrae Roundup

By Dane

Although I admit I don't love much of the Delrae line, I will say that they are admirable in their construction, made of what seem like quality ingredients, and are packaged nicely. What I can't appreciate is the excessive volume that many of them take, but used very sparingly, the line is interesting and worth checking out.

1. Debut - good quality lily of the valley. I remember hunting for a LOTV that I could love...I realize now I only like them on the stem. Diorissimo fans rejoice!

2. Bois de Paradis - intense apple pie accord, brought to you via synthetic sandalwoods and curried spices. Too strong.

3. Emotionelle - hyper-realistic cantaloupe. That being said, I rather like it.

4. Amoureuse - peculiar floral with off-notes. Again, too strong.

5. Mythique - lush iris with a bright pink berry-factor. Possible full review to follow.

6. Eau Illuminee - sour Eau de Cologne. I guess they felt the need to offer the hubbies something?

Delrae also offers their scents in a cream. I wonder if maybe some of the powerhouses in the line might benefit from being in this less concentrated format? In either case, I hope they realize that the potential for their scents could go up if everything was diluted two-fold. Strength doesn't always equal luxury.

  1. Bois de Paradis lost me at the apple pie reference- apples + wood is fine for our hamster but not in my perfume thank you very much. I have to admit I have judged these scents by their ho-hum packaging. Couldn't figure out if the bottles or labels- or both- came off as cheap. The bottles could be ok, as long as the tops are not cheap plastic.....but those labels need a makeover.

That said, I am curious to try Mythique :)
