On my continuing quest to find the perfect mimosa, I was naturally pointed in the direction of Nicolai's Mimosaique (what a great name). Naturally, by the time I came around to seeking it out, Mimosaique was rumoured to have been discontinued and was pulled off all the US retail sites. Go figure. Luck has it, though, that she's now back in production and readily available.
Many of Nicolai's signature stamps are within Mimosaique...from the tutti-fruitti opening to the tidy base, one cannot mistake this as a work in her typical handwriting. The heart of the scent is truly stunning - a beautifully lush mimosa note, which just happens to be exactly what I was looking for. I can't say I love the other elements of the fragrance, but I can't deny that overall it's a lovely scent.
Admittedly, if I had both Mimosaique and Yves Rocher's Pur Desir de Mimosa in front of me, I think I'd more often than not reach for the YR, but for those looking for something less simplistic and more of a proper fragrance, Nicolai has done an outstanding job of capture sunlight in a bottle.
