No, this is not my normal fare, but it’s good to get away from the classics once in a while and try something new and different. I saw this bottle – a blue torso with this 70’s era Rubber-Soul-typeface, and though...well...okay then. New and different, right? Glad I keep my bottles in a drawer...just sayin’.
That said, Le Male Summer is...ummm, not bad in a watery, washed-out way. It’s light and sheer, opening with powdery orange blossoms over light spices. Really light spices. Probably not too far from Old Spice, now that I think of it. A little candy-ish sweetness is present, like saltwater taffy from the beach.
Le Male Summer is pretty linear – there’s not a whole lot of changing and shifting going on here – it’s all light and sheer, a late-afternoon at the beach sort of a vibe. Longevity is modest, although it bloomed quite well late in the day once I got moving outdoors, so it will come back with the right inducement. It’s got the simple, sunny nature of early Beach Boys songs, and for that I like this scent. But I would still hide the bottle.
