I was going to include Pur Desir de Mimosa in the next "one-liner" installment, because frankly, there isn't too much to say about it...but not giving it a full review seemed like I wasn't giving this wonderful and simple scent the credit it deserves.
As mentioned - not much to say. Pur Desir de Mimosa opens with...you guessed it - mimosa. It's hard to detect much else anywhere in the scent, but you can catch some of mimosa's unique characteristics. An ever-so-slightly animalic leather, a fruity, citrus quality, cool cucumber tones, and green, woody powder. All the while, PDdM stays very soft, and very close to the skin. It does last longer than one might expect, but don't expect too many compliments (unless someone is seriously encroaching on your personal space.)
As you can see below, the advertised notes don't give you much to go on, but I can't imagine they could list much else anyway. Allegedly (according to Osmoz.com), PDdMimosa was created by Annick Menardo, which seems slightly out of place with her other scents I'm familiar with, but if it is indeed the case, a standing ovation for creating a simple accord that comes across as natural, relaxed, and carefree...all for around $20 ($25 here in Canada.)
Year: 2005
Perfumer: Annick Menardo
Notes: Green Notes, Fruity Notes, Mimosa, Floral Accord, Mimosa Absolute
Psst, Dane,

Gasp! I stick to my story that it was not there when I checked last, and that I was told it was d/c'd....thanks Kathleen!
ReplyDeleteYou are correct on both counts. It only just came up on the site, and it was supposed to be discontinued. I had an email from luckyscent (I'd inquired about the scent a month or so back) telling me, due to all of the demand, PdN decided to start producing it again. They let me know today, that it was in. Your post was very timely.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm thrilled it's back! I have to admit though, the YR still has its place...Nicolai's is definitely more complex, but I applaud YR for giving us a straight-up, unadorned mimosa.
ReplyDeleteOi .
