A perfume for those who don't like perfume. Prada seems to capture this phrase effortlessly with their collection of minimal, non-offending fragrances. The newest to the collection is based on the lovely orange blossom, and just as you probably guessed, smells as faint as a whisper.
None of Prada's initial fragrances captured me...they came across as more bases for perfumes than actual finished compositions. Infusion d'Iris changed that for me...a lovely doughy iris with a splash of citrus. At the time, iris-based fragrances weren't so common, and Prada's introduction of the note to the public was a welcome change. Since then, iris has flooded the market (no doubt due to the price dropping with new extraction technologies), and Prada's rendition moved to the back-burner. While still a lovely scent, the "infusion" elements stand out more than the iris.
On to the latest scent - same basic concept, with orange blossom replacing the iris. My excitement has diminished greatly since realizing that it was only the iris that capture my attention with the original. Infusion de Fleur d'Orange (what a mouth full) is dull, limp, and adds nothing to the already abundant selection of orange blossoms on the market. Following in the footsteps of Jo Malone, L'Artisan Parfumeur, and a dozen others, Prada's rendition left virtually no impression whatsoever.
Will IdFdO be a best-seller? No doubt. This is a market-friendly fragrance that young and old alike can appreciate. Does it add anything to the perfume game? Absolutely not. Nice box though.
