Spring. Ahh, the time when a young man’s wandering fancy turns to baseball and bergamot. Oh, what to wear, what to wear? I’m leaving aside a few obvious choices here and instead exhort you to try these:
Thomas
1. New West (Aramis) - Dry, clean, and fairly straightforward in its composition. Good for spring and summer.
2. Shaal Nur (Etro) - Affable and airy incense composition that isn’t just another pretty summer scent.
3. Bay Rum (Burt’s Bees) - Classic masculine for a reasonable price. As summer comes on, go with St. Charles’ Shave Bay Rum with a Twist.
4. Azzaro Pour Homme (Azzaro) - Spacious licorice fougere, versatile and easy-wearing.
5. Chanel Pour Monsieur (Chanel) - The only chypre than really matters – good until summer, then switch to Platinum Egoiste (at your risk).
6. If you can find a bottle – Signoricci - A big juicy lemon in a glass of ice water. Fantastic.

1. L'Instant d'un Été Pour Homme (Guerlain) - The depth and richness of L'instant with a healthy dose of lime on top and less of the heavy, sweet (and patchouli-laden) base. If you like L'instant, you'll like this one, too.
2. Pamplelune (Guerlain Aqua Allegoria) - Grapefruit, Grapefruit, Grapefruit. Bitter citrus and spices make this one funky, pungent, and hard to miss. I love this one in the hottest of months.
3. Givenchy III (Givenchy) - One of the classic chypres. Not quite as floral as some, not quite as fruity or citrus-y as others... it's a perfectly balanced chypre for any and every occasion. Exists side-by-side in a collection with Mitsouko or the original Chanel PM.
4. L'Interdit (Givenchy) - In any of its incarnations (original, les Mythiques, or 2002 reformulation) another crisp floral aldehyde with peach, strawberry, sandalwood, and a soft creaminess that keeps you interested.
Mark
1. Zizan (Ormonde Jayne) - a new spring, a new vetiver fragrance. Zizan breathes new life into a timeless fragrance theme.
2. Bois d'Orage aka French Lover (Frederic Malle) - Pierre Bourdon's cool, earthy, green and woody composition whispers spring, seductively, in your shell-like ear.
3. Muscs Khoublaï Khan (Serge Lutens) - Colonel Kilgore loved the smell of napalm in the morning; I love the smell of animalic musk on a warm spring day. Maybe because I still think it smells like flowers.
4. Black (Bvlgari) - Despite the black tea cum burning rubber and gasoline accord, I find this a light and pleasant scent; and besides, too much prettiness isn't pretty.
Dane
1. 28 La Pausa (Chanel) - This captures Spring perfectly for me...greenery, flowers, dampness. Perfection in a bottle.
2. Declaration (Cartier) - This has nothing at all to do with Spring...I just like it.
3. Nombril Immense (Etat Libre d'Orange) - Another Spring-like smell for me - patchouli. Reminds me of working in the garden.
4. Gold (Donna Karan) - Some flowers scream summer heat (jasmine). Lilies represent Spring for me...crisp and green. Lilies also remind me of funerals, which in a way is a new beginning, not unlike Spring.
