L'Air du Désert Marocain (Tauer Perfumes)

By Thomas

Rational people amuse me in many ways, none more so than when they do Pro/Con lists to make a yes/no decision. I guess this works if you’re deciding which brand of hammer to buy (well, not even then, but let’s continue), but it kind of breaks down for affairs of the senses (I should write ad copy).

Sadly, Thomas has depleted his sample vial of Tauer L’Air Du Desert Marocain (normally I buy or discard after three wearings) and is now faced with a yes/no decision: Do I buy a bottle?

Let’s make a pro/con list:

Pro: Big, big opening.

Con: Camphoraceous blast at the beginning – eww

Side-effect: Should clear sinuses.

Pro: Main impression is: CEDAR, clove, amber, other spices

Con: May be troublesome to people who are allergic to cedar

Side-effect: Probably repels moths like a champ.

Pro: Good sillage, longevity, distinct phases of scents

Con: Not really demanding that I smell it over and over again. Plain amber drydown.

So there you have it. The Pros and the Cons are spelled out, and...I still don’t have a decision yet. It’s a good scent and may hook into your pleasure centers better than it does mine, but for me? I’ll pass.

Year: 2005
Pefumer: Andy Tauer
Notes: Coriander, Cumin, Petitgrain, Rock Rose, Jasmine, Cedar Wood, Vetiver, Amber

  1. Totally agree with you. I'll take Dzongkha or Timbuktu over l'AduDM any day; I find it too cloyingly sweet. Thanks for the review!
