Rossy de Palma is a Spanish actress with a pension for red and an apparent disinterest in dental hygiene. Our European readers will no doubt be familiar, but for those of us abroad, a glance at her photos online will be an eclectic treat. Etat Libre pays homage to this unique and captivating lady with an eponymous scent that seems to reflect her personality and celebrity.
RdP is a brash, loud rose. The opening notes are strong, cloying, and caused an involuntary twitch in my left eye. From there, calmness sets in, so to speak, and a familiar, woody rose and patchouli accord remains. Not unlike something in the Comme des Garcons collection, this interpretation of Bertrand Duchaufour's style is emulated and played at top volume. Probably best suited for evening wear and special occasions, one spray should be considered an investment of your time.
Likable, interesting, and captivating. Not unlike the alternative beauty in the photo.
