Someone lost the plot on this one. Who put the juice for Gucci's Envy for Men in a Serge Lutens bottle? And why?!?! What starts off as a masculine citrus, turns into a synthetic, generic blend of ginger and nothingness.
I can only assume that releasing two scents a year is becoming a nuisance. Five o'clock (my nomination for the worst name for a perfume) feels rushed, unfinished, and an all together failure. Reminds me of when you read a review that should have been longer but there's not much more to say. ;)
Year: 2008
Perfumer: Christopher Sheldrake
Notes: Bergamot, Candied Ginger, Pepper, Cacao, Honey, Patchouli
Perhaps SL is looking to shield Sheldrake (and by association Chanel) from negative reviews? IMHO Lutens has been generous in giving Sheldrake credit with developing the scents. Also, the second paragraph of Shiseido's comment reads as though they're taking blame for the scent concept.
