Musc Ravageur is one of those reputed "bad boy" fragrances to which almost aphrodisiacal qualities have been ascribed. Interestingly, it doesn't smell much like musk at all.
MR starts out sharp, with a good blast of bergamot, which is shortly rounded out by plenty of vanilla and a little cinnamon. And there is something else, which to me smells very much like civet; this, I think is the animalic component of Musc Ravageur.
There is no doubt that this is a heady concoction, and it does smell like it's headed for the bedroom. And skeptical as I am of claims of a fragrance's power to seduce, the first time I wore this, one of the SAs in a store I frequent was all over me, and she never seemed that excited about me before.
Of course, she might just have been short of her sales numbers for the month.
In any case, you want to use a light touch with this fragrance; a little goes a long way. It has excellent staying power.
The progression is very smooth; short bergamot opening, long curve of vanilla/cinnamon/civet (or musk, if you insist), and the amber comes in to dim the lights in the drydown.
Get on up!
