Kenzo Power (Kenzo)

By Dane

Finally, something new I'm not going to bitch about...shocking, I know.

Kenzo Power is a bit of a drag show (albeit a good one). It opens with a very acidic, biting citrus. Very cold, tangy, and masculine. Soon after a soft and feminine floral note enters the picture. I expected this phase to last a while, but a sweet, androgynous (not to mention familiar) accord emerges, no doubt borrowed from Olivier Polge's previous masterpiece, Dior Homme. The notes are blended smoothly and succeed in reinterpreting DH where D&G's The One failed. It's nice to see florals for men are continuing to be the trend, as "unisex" scents don't seem to be catching on in the mainstream fragrance world.

Kenzo hasn't released a decent men's scent since Kenzo Air...it's good to see they're back on track. A bit trashy, a little bit like mixing DH with Allure (the women's version), but good nevertheless. I should also mention that the lasting power is excellent. Great bottle too.

Year: 2008
Perfumer: Olivier Polge
Notes: Bergamot, Coriander, Cardamom, Floral Notes, Cedar, Tolu Balm, Labdanum

  1. Dane, I'm rather taken with this one myself.
its one of the better mainstream releases this year as far as men's fragrance is concerned.
