Guerlain Homme (Guerlain)

By Dane

Guerlain Homme's tagline - "for the animal in you". I'm sitting here smelling my hand and picturing which animal they're speaking of. A squirrel perhaps? Maybe a donkey? Definitely nothing exciting like the exotics in the commercial. This animal is dependable, but dull.

The "mojito accord" is evident in the opening of GH. A fizzy citrus and mint combo that soon fades into a boring, woody nothing. Utterly inoffensive and perfect for those days when you want to smell like you're not wearing anything at all. Mr. Wasser's first release as in-house perfumer for the prestigious brand was played a little too safe. I can only hope his future creations are a bit more ballsy.

Sadly, even the bottle was disappointing. All shiny and slick in the pictures...cheap and smudgy in person.

Year: 2008
Perfumer: Thierry Wasser
Notes: Mojito Accord, Lime, Mint, Fresh Floral Accord, Bergamot, Green Woody Accord, Cedar, Patchouli

  1. I beg to differ! In many cases, especially perfume, less is often more.

I get nothing but compliments on this one: it's fresh, with a slight saltiness, and very, very pleasant.

True, the ad may be misleading but the fragrance reaks of class and distinction.

Perfect for everyday wear, as you say, and quite frankly, many of us are past the point of wanting to smell like burning wood, tar and rubber, incense or pineapple.

  2. I admire your strength. If a perfume doesn't smell like a pineapple car on fire I can't be pleased.
