Rum Tonic (Malin+Goetz)

By Dane

When I read the title of this fragrance written on the bottle, I immediately put it back down. I don't care for boozy scents. Yet another case of misjudging the book by its cover. Rum Tonic is nothing like I thought it would be.

RT opens with a bright citrus note, and is soon joined by fruity-florals and light wood tones. I find it comes across as more of a vodka tonic than a rum tonic. Very fresh and crisp, which is nothing like the spiced after-dinner drink I was expecting. I didn't pick up on any milky notes, as given in the advertised notes, rather a fizzy, zippy feeling.

M+G fragrances are intended to be layered, but RT stands well on its own as a simple, fresh scent for summer. Might go well with the Synthesized Musk (some of which is already contained in the drydown anyway), although they suggest pairing it with their Synthesized Lotus Root.

Year: 2005
Notes: Bergamot, Plum, Leather, Rum, Amber, Patchouli, Milk
