Racine (Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier)

By Dane
What would happen if you took KenzoAir and removed the synthetic ambers, or Sel de Vetiver and removed the salty elements? Well, you'd essentially end up with just one ingredient - vetiver. And if you, like I, expect the best ingredients available, you'd be left with best modern interpretation on the market today - Racine.

Other than a tangy burst of citrus in the topnotes, Racine is all about vetiver. The nutty elements aren't played up and the earthy elements are subtle, so all that's left is pure, clean, vetiver beauty. There's a reason why this particular ingredient is found in almost every men's scent today. It smells complex, masculine, and wonderful, just like Racine.

MPG has two vetiver fragrances in the their collection, the other of which plays up the darker elements. I prefer Racine, but check out Route du Vetiver if this one doesn't suit you (get an older bottle if you can find one as the formula's recently been tampered with).

Year: 1988
Perfumer: Jean-Francois Laporte
Notes: Vetiver, Oakmoss, White Musk, Hesperides

  1. Hi Dane,
Couldn't agree with you more! Racine is the best straight-up Vetiver you'll find out there today. Works well on both men and women.
