Perry Ellis for Men (Perry Ellis)

By Dane

Same old same old. The schmancy bottle almost made me think that Ellis was going to release a more upscale cologne to compete with the slew of other designers doing the same thing. Wrong. PEfM is yet another "common" scent...inoffensive, generic, and bland.

As usual, all the budget was spent on the top notes of "green apple" (read: sweet, nondescript fruit), but soon lags down to a synthetic amber like any other. I will say that it keeps a neutral volume, meaning no part of it jumps out more than any other, which is more than I can say for many of the bottles sitting on the shelf at your local department store. A dry, wood and patchouli drydown follows next, again, remaining at wallflower levels, with a very faint smokey vanilla vibe.

From the Perry Ellis website: "Succumb to its infinite charm, then embrace its uniqueness." Barf. Press BS aside, it's not terrible (not great either), and would make a good gift for someone you feel indifferent to.

Year: 2008
Notes: Green Apple Accord, Amber, Black Patchouli, Woods
