Do Son (Diptyque)

By Dane

Yet another tuberose soliflore. While Serge Lutens' Tubereuse Criminelle has a shocking blast of camphor, and Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower combines a heady tuberose with lush, exotic ingredients, Do Son is just...tuberose.

DS has some good points and some bad points. It's well composed, relatively subtle, and fits in nicely with Diptyque's line of simple compositions. On the other hand, it's a bit dull, lacks personality, and can't easily stand next to the stiff competition.

If you're looking for a tuberose, you have a lot of options available to you. Do Son will fit the bill if you want a simple, sheer, and pretty white floral. The lasting power is excellent and it's suitable for both men and women. If you're looking for a daring, man-eating tuberose, look elsewhere.

Year: 2005
Notes: Tuberose, Orange Tree Leaves, Iris, White Musk

  1. Dane, I think we have really similar tastes, I strongly reccommend you Olene, specially in the summer: relatively linear scent but simply joyful white flowers. It's like a fresh 'tuberose reminiscent', maybe more about honeysuckle, jasmine, wisteria and narcissus.... but I see the final effect something like to wear 'Fracas little baby sister', I'm not kidding...

Just like drinking some iced jasmin tea in a garden in bloom.... Amazing lasting power.

To me, one of the best in Diptyque's line.
