Dior Homme Sport (Dior)

I'll admit it - I'm an Austin Powers fan. What can I say, I'm a guy...fart jokes make me laugh. As with most movies though, once the sequels start pouring out, the quality goes down...sometimes even hitting rock bottom (Beyonce anyone?)

I'm sure you know where this is going. Dior Homme is a gem of a scent. An unusual mix of chilled iris over a warm, sweet, tobacco heart. The two hard-to-find sequels, Intense and Cologne, both had their own charm. Intense played up the sweet facets of the original, while Cologne added a bright citrus that lightened the overall feeling.

Dior Homme Sport is the perfume version of Fonzie jumping the shark. They could have left things as is, but they had to push it. I realize that DHS isn't intended to be a retake on its predecessors, but why not give it its own identity? Same bottle, same name - crap scent.

DHS opens with a synthetic, plastic smelling citrus before settling into a generic aquatic. On its own, nothing horrible, but with the prestige of being held in the stunning block of glass that held the original Dior Homme, a tragic disappointment. To top it all off, Jude Law is the face of the fragrance. A tip of Dior - guys don't like Jude Law. Would you want to smell like "Alfie"?

Year: 2008
Notes: Citrus, Ginger, Wood
