Narciso Rodriguez for Him (Narciso Rodriguez)

By Dane

Narciso Rodriguez caused quite the stir in the women's fragrance industry with his eponymous scent in 2003, so the release of a matching men's scent was highly anticipated. NR For Him used NR For Her's musk-base as a starting point, butched up the composition with Grey Flannel's violet leaf overdose, added synthetic marine notes recalling the early 90's "fresh" craze, and capped things off with a modern, synthetic amber in the drydown.

The topnotes in For Him almost made me reach for my wallet, but letting the scent develop revealed that the rest didn't speak to me. Things come off smelling rather stale, which apparently was the idea for the scent. The matching musk oil, although subtle, was much more appealing to me, but the steep price held me. I can't win with this one. Well composed, highly recommended, but not for me...nice bottle though.

Year: 2007
Perfumer: Francis Kurkdjian
Notes: Violet Leaf, Patchouli, Amber, Musk
