L'Ombre Dans L'Eau really is a beautiful fragrance. I wouldn't be surprised if the matching candle, Baies, was Diptyque's best selling product. I liked it so much, I even bought a bottle. It sits in the back of my perfume cabinet collecting dust. Why? I'm not completely sure, but I'd say it's because LDL works better as a room scent than one you want to wear on your body.
LDL is fairly linear in nature...meaning what you smell in the beginning is close to what you smell at the end. It's very green in nature, combining black currant leaves and Bulgarian roses. Even though it's allegedly based on rose, LDL smells more of a wet, dewy garden than your typical floral. The rose notes are present, but they play more of a supporting role to the greenery. I could never classify whether it comes across as more feminine or masculine, because it's really neither....it belongs scenting your surroundings.
A beautiful name for a beautiful scent. I doubt I'll ever part with my bottle, but I doubt I'll ever finish it either.
Year: 1983

could you make me a decant of this perfume?
