Cuir d'Iris is PG's "traditional" leather offering. While Cuir Venenum is much more unusual and more interesting because of it, CdI is for the leather purist.
If you're an iris lover (as I am), CdI will be a disappointment for you. A note like leather completely overwhelms something as subtle as iris, and CdI is no exception. If iris wasn't in the title, I would even know it was present at all. What you get is a robust birch tar with a slightly sweet amber drydown.
Due to Cuir d'Iris's limited availability as part of PG's "Private Collection", I can't recommend it over something like Chanel's Cuir de Russie or Etat Libre's Rien, but I suppose it would suit someone who loves all variations on the leather theme.
