From Thierry Mugler's upscale Miroir Miroir collection, one scent stands out above the rest. Translated (loosley) to Through The Look Glass, A Travers Le Miroir is by perfumer Alexis Dadier, a relatively new name on the scene.
I said in my review for Tubereuse Criminelle that it was the only tuberose love of my life, but ATLM could change everything. Opening with a tangy, metallic floral note, a woody backdrop soon joins the picture and creates a very unique pairing. There's also a hint of licorice that marries surprisingly well with the floral tones. The whole "masculine/feminine" angle is hardly new, and doesn't always work as intended, but Dadier hit a homerun with her interpretation.
All of the scents of the collection come in slim bottles with tops that resemble Grace Jones' hair in the 80's. Also worth mentioning is the hideous mirrored box that turns into a display stand...please...for your own good, throw the box out. ATLM is suitably unisex, very quiet and close to the skin.
