Guerlain released Meteorites in 2000 to accompany the launch of its cosmetic line of the same name. Meteorites a simple, powdery violet. Nothing more, nothing less.

There are many beautiful violet perfumes on the market today (Apres l'Ondee for example), so what's the need for an off-beat limited edition like this? Guerlain's focus was probably marketing strategy, but I believe Meteorites would appeal to a broad audience if it were part of its main collection.

While there is no real progression in the scent, probably no natural ingredients, and no complexity whatsoever, what Meteorites can claim is beauty through simplicity. A perfume for the lady (or gent) who wants a pleasant soliflore, but is too cheap to shell out for Meteorites inspiration - Penhaligon's Violetta from 1976.
Although no longer in production, it can easily be found on eBay and discount perfumers for a steal. A good alternative to spending the same amount of cash on a drugstore perfume.
