It's interesting to try all the different variations on a certain note. Every perfume house seems to have an incense scent these days, and which one you choose really relies on your style and budget.
The top of the pile would be something like Armani Prive's Bois d'Encens, moving down to Comme Des Garcon's Incense series, and then to a mass-market offering like Gucci Pour Homme. All three styles are wonderful, so I guess it all depends on how much you want to spend, and stigmas on luxury vs. designer vs. department store.
GPH opens with a heavy pepper note before it works its way to a cedar-incense. I love the "pencil shavings" note in the background, which gives it a dry, dusty feel. Things get a bit sweeter as things progress, but that soon recedes into the background. While I admire Comme des Garcons' daring, intense styling, and Armani's use of luxurious ingredients, GPH's style is much easier to wear and much more approachable.
