My grandmother wears Joy. It suits her...flowery on the outside, complex on the inside. I was hoping 1000 would have a similar tone, but I can't help but be a bit disappointed.
1000 starts with a wollop of girly, lily of the valley mess. Off-putting and uncalled for. Then a fruity, osmanthus note reveals itself, which reminds me of the all-too-common "fruity floral" as of late. Another completely different stage follows...more in the realm of Joy, with dark, dirty jasmin and sultry rose notes. I'd rather just skip the first two steps and get right to the Joy though. The drydown is pleasant, ambery, and not nearly as animalic as I'd like it to be (back to the Joy reference).
With many perfumes, the "parfum" strength often reveals beautiful elements not present in other concentrations and contains better quality ingredients. I've only been able to test the EDT of 1000, so I hope that something better is contained in the little jade flask pictured here.
